I still have a hard time believing that Snape's role is as simple as re-
establishing his place among the DEs. In fact, I don't believe that is what he is
doing at all.

Here are my reasons:

* It is risky to the point of suicide to teach Harry Occlumency while V-Mort has
a direct link to Harry's head IF Snape is telling Voldemort "Yes, master, I'm
back with you master. I'm doing you're bidding, master. Would you like your
shoes shined, master?"

* Snape has told Fudge that he is a Death Eater and that he wasn't going
back. Now, Fudge probably isn't working directly for V-Mort, but you can
certainly see Fudge telling one of his subordinates, "That idiot Snape actually
tried to say You-Know-Who was calling him."

It certainly stands to reason that Fudge has V-Mort sympathizers infiltrating
the ministry who are reporting back little tidbits like that.

* V-Mort already suspects Snape. I am of the belief that he was referring to
Snape when he said, "one has left me forever."

Here's what I think he's doing and it involves another possible "good" former
Slyth.

Theory:

There is another DE out there who wants to switch sides, and Snape is the
one trying to bring him in from the cold. He can still find out what V-Mort is
telling the DEs, through this person and really, only Snape can talk this
person off the fence, because he knows exactly what the guy, or gal is going
through.

Any ideas on who it could be?
