Remember too that there is some type of agreement or pact that DD
made with Petunia when she took Harry in from the doorstep. He said
in the book that as much as Harry hated going there he had to because
it gave him protection or something (forgive me I can't remember
exactally what it did for him), and that is why he sent the howler to
her when Vernon was going to kick him out. I think that just wanted
Harry to realize that although he did just lose Sirius, he still had
people who loved him and would look out for him as if he were their
own and that he still had people who would do anything for him.
