Me:
I also favor the idea of Petunia doing magic late in life. Have we
already seen evidence of this? Her extemely clean kitchen
perhaps? Wouldn't that be something if she had Lily's old wand
& had begun to experiment with it?! Oh well, I guess that's not
likely or else Harry would have received notices for use of
underage magic-- afterall, he was blamed for Dobby's use of
magic at Privet Drive. Ooh, but Petunia's not underage-- but
neither is Dobby, of course, he's not human either.

Really exciting idea, Marta, about Petunia having to eventually
use magic to defend her home/family against Voldemort. It
seems logical that he could attempt to kill the Dursley's to
destroy Harry's protection.

In past books, it seemed the Dursley's couldn't care whether or
not Harry lived or died. Petunia did feed Harry when he was
locked in his bedroom (CoS), but I thought that might have just
been to ensure he had enough strength to do the chores! It was
nice to see in OoP that Petunia has known all along that by
keeping Harry in her home, she ensures his survival-- and that
she defied Vernon to keep Harry protected.
