Away back in the Stone Age (shortly post GoF) I myself leapt up in 
defence of Percy and am glad to see that others are carrying the 
torch for me in my lurkdom!

I was surprised to see Percy totally break from the family, even 
given his ambition to make something of himself.  I could see him 
taking the position of junior assistant to Fudge as a way to redeem 
himself in the MoM's eyes after his blindness in the Crouch Affair, 
but I really like the idea that he is secretly aiding the Order and 
is unable to let his family know it.  

However, as cleanly as the break seemed to all the Weasleys, Percy 
*did* contact Ron shortly before that OUW (Odious Umbridge Woman) had 
herself declared High Inquisitor of Hogwarts.  Now, if he were truly 
upset with the whole family, *why* would he write Ron (best friend of 
HP) and give him clues?  I think he was giving Ron a heads up about 
it and trying to warn him and his mates not to p*** her off.
