I wrote a post that kinda got lost in the shuffle about the tendency
of Head Boys and Girls to date. James and Lily and Percy and Penelope
(I think Penelope was Head Girl.) So... assuming Hermione is Head
Girl in 7th year (and I see no other candidate, save MAYBE Pansy
Parkinson, but that's a long-shot) who will be the Head Boys? The
candidates so far are:

Harry: Gots the pedigree. Gots the leadership capability. Grades a
problem.

<MY REPLY> In book 5 grades do not appear to be as much of a problem
anymore. Harry was really motivated at the end and I think we will
find that he scraped together quite a few owls (most with Acceptables-
but I suspect some Outstandings as well)

Ron: Even better pedigree. Prefect already. Grades a problem.

<MY REPLY> Not necessary to be prefect to become head boy (lots of
canon on this)grades may be an issue here, as always Ron is average
and plods along with help from his friends.

Draco: Prefect already. Grades probably pretty good.

<MY REPLY> again being prefect is no big deal-plus what are you
basing your assumption of good grades on? He will clearly do well in
potions (SS favorite boy), but we have some areas in book referring
to low grades for him and Lucius annoyed (or am I confusing with
movie?) But, I truly expect Harry to pull of more OWLS than either
Ron or Draco (for one, I just think his practical tests went
better).

Ernie MacMillan: Prefect already. Character showing leadership
skills.

<MY REPLY> But, in CoS Ernie has some problems with Toleration of
different people, and arrogance. I think he is unlikely.

Neville: The difference in GoF Neville and OoP Neville is startling.
If he keeps improving, he will be a force.

<MY REPLY> I think Neville is an excellent candidate for Head Boy,
and that I believe will kill your theory on SHIP-because I doubt JKR
will ever, ever pair Hermione and Neville.

P.S. Women generally prefer to pick out their own fragrances, but if
it is something really pricey it is great when their man pays for it.
