jennifer, I totally agree!  One of my favorite examples of 
Hermione's growth, maturation, and understanding their role in 
the "big picture" of the wizarding world was when the DA was 
discovered, and the jr. Death Eaters had brought the sextet to 
Umbridge's office.  Hermione takes it upon herself to fabricate this 
elaborate story about the "weapon" (all while fake-crying into her 
hands!), and manages to get them out of the office and pretty much 
out of danger.  It was a brilliant moment, and one of my favorite 
Hermione moments in the entire series so far!
