Hermione is very perceptive but she's not all knowing (shhhh don't tell her 
that ;-)). 
Possibly or maybe she thought he was scared to approach her because of her 
reputation has a "know it all."  For some reason she's always struck me as 
having self esteem issues maybe that's why I can't quite picture her thinking 
that this world famous seeker likes her romantically.  A boy being afraid of 
her because she's smart, she can believe . .she's probably ran into it a lot. 
But but one liking romantically for herself? She'd probably have a harder 
time with it   

She also might just see it as him approaching her because she didn't seem to 
be one to be swept away by celebrity. Unlike the fangirls with the Bulgaria 
scaves. (did any female students come over from Drumstrang?
