Geoff:
This is not new phenomenon; before JKR hit it, Tolkien had the same 
trouble with the Swedish LOTR; in fact he insisted that the foreword 
be deleted and a good deal of amending carried out befote it hit the 
bookshops.

Actually, unless the name has a specific meaning, I don't see the 
need to try to translate it. For example, not everybody knows that 
Dumbledore means bumble bee so why not leave Albus alone?
