What does Christmas represent to the WW?

Hi, all! Wow, this is my very first post. My name's Alia, and I've
decided to come out of my shell after a year of
lurking. *throws confetti*

Forgive me if this has already been mentioned, I searched the post
archive regarding this subject, but I didn't find anything. Now, I
was thinking about certain holidays in the books: JKR mentions
Christmas, Easter, and Halloween. Of what significance are these
holidays in the WW? I know that Christmas and Easter are highly
regarded in some Christian sects, while some don't acknowledge
them. Halloween, according to many Christian relatives and friends,
isn't quite viewed the same way; it was/is thought more of as a
pagan holiday, or an "evil" day, preceding All Saints Day.

In the US ed. of OotP, Easter was mentioned at least twice in
passing ("It was the first day of the Easter holidays..." pg. 651),
but we do know that Christmas is celebrated (they have decorative
trees, give/receive gifts, etc.). I've known two definitions of
Christmas: Dec. 25th being the birth of Jesus OR, Dec. 25th being
the sun-worshipper Nimrod's birthday. So as far as the WW is
concerned, which is it? Do they know, or believe in God and Jesus
in the same way we do, if at all? What do you think JKR was trying
to get across, being a Christian herself?

I do apologize in advance for rambling, and to anyone who may be
offended, I would just like to know what you brilliant posters
think. Thanks.

Alia, who is waiting for the first tomato
