I think the Unforgivable curses, Crucio and Imperio,
are allowed in a controlled setting where the victim
is aware and ready for what will happen. Think of it
kind of like combat training...
I am sure Aurors have to go through some pretty
intense training and probably have to endure some
pretty nasty curses and tests (Kind of like the Navy
Seals)
They want the best and the strongest. Whoever can
pass and survive gets the job.
