scene. She reacts rather cooly to the slur he spews at her,
almost like she expects it. Maybe I am reading to much into
this but I like this theory. What if Lilly and snape are
brother and sister with a muggle mother and pureblood father?

Kathys thoughts:
I always thought that it was possible that Snapes dad married Lily and 
Petunias Mom. Lily and Petunias dad died and their mom married Snapes 
dad. The pensieve scene would make more sense if the mom and dad were 
fighting over their respective children. Snape is listening in just shooting 
down flies because he was the one who started the fight between his father 
and their muggle mother. (Snape appeared to be rather smug to me in this 
scene) This could be why Snape is so hateful towards mudbloods and why he 
would join up with Voldemort, to get away from this home life.  It also 
would make sence that Lily would try to intervene on Snapes behalf because 
he is now a stepbrother to her. And James reaction and comment "that its 
more the fact that he exists"(not verbatim) could be that he realizes what 
Lily has to put up with at home. As far as Petunia, do you really think that 
she would bring up this fact when she is not willing to bring up the fact 
that she is blood related to a witch?
