It is certainly acceptable that the students/former students
mentioned above are "simply Brits of foreign extraction", as you so
eloquently put it. However, I think the fact that Dolohov's name
leads us to believe that he is the sole representive of what someone
(maybe Carol?) brought up and dubbed the "Durmstrang branch of Death
Eaters" (apologies if I misquoted or especially miscredited). After
all, (memory again) "Durmstrang concentrates a lot more on the Dark
Arts, and not just the Defense rubbish [they] do at Hogwarts".
Shouldn't that logically mean that many Durmstrang kids grow up to be
Death Eaters? And for that matter, if the concentrations of the
separate magical schools are really that varied, and the schools are
so geographically separated, why are there not more people with
accents at Hogwarts, or people with different or missing written
accents from Beauxbatons or Durmstrang?

Carol responds:
Good memory! That *was* my post. It does seem as if only French
students attend Beauxbatons and Russian/Slavic students attend
Durmstrang, though given its name, it ought to take German students as
well. DD (I think) does say that they're the three largest schools isn
Europe, which implies that there are at least one or two others. Maybe
there's a very small Italian school, for example, or a Scandinavian
one. But possibly Hogwarts does take non-British students. The Patils,
for example, could be from India, but if they were taught British
English at a young age, they probably sound just like native speakers.
And what of the Lestranges, who definitely attended Hogwarts in their
youth? Are they "simply Brits of foreign extraction" or Frenchmen who
for some reason attended Hogwarts instead of Beauxbatons? (We need to
hear them speak!)

Anyway, it does seem odd that there are no other Durmstrang Death
Eaters, especially since the Dark Arts are actually taught there..
Maybe there are DEs outside England who weren't called to the
graveyard when LV touched the Dark Mark on Wormtail's arm. How can he
be planning to take over the WW if the English contingent is all there
is?
