Then again....The only thing I can think of that would make the
duelling of wizards with a 'brother' wand different from the way you
describe, is that the magical forces coming from (or through) the
wand are drawn to each other just because of it.
Instead of going to the aimed target (the other wizard), the curse
will go of tangent as it has to come together with its brother
curse. They are magnetically drawn to each other.
As you already pointed out, this can only happen when both curses
are 'up in the air' and have not yet reached the other wizard.
