Anyway, I was thinking about what else might be significant about
the scar {besides the shape} that we don't already know, and I
wonder if it is the position. That is, the position being near the
eyes.

Jen:
You do have to wonder about the scar placement. I've always assumed
the scar is there because that's where the AK hit Harry. Lily was
already dead, so there was nothing stopping LV from aiming right
between the eyes, certain he was murdering his nemesis.
I do think the most important part of the scar is the mystery of why
LV and Harry both survived and are now connected in some way. This
connection, which JKR called the 'central and crucial question'
sounds like the most significant point. After the World Book Day
chat, I'm thinking this connection may have to do with the
circumstances of Riddle's birth.

Jen: This seems the most likely scenario. Of course, it almost
defies logic that none of the people who sagely comment on Harry's
eyes don't also mention the special power as well! I know, I know
Harry doesn't ask questions and Dumbledore witholds information--
*that's* why we don't know about the eyes yet ;). Those two sure
keep it suspenseful, don't they?
Or perhaps not many people know about Lily's eyes. Maybe they are
merely commenting on the likeness.

Jen: Perhaps the color is tied up with the power. Of course, LV
killed Lily even with her green eyes, so that would discount color
being an impediment to the AK.
Personally, I'm still holding out for the dragon blood theory--that
Harry is somehow protected by dragon blood, making it near
impossible to kill him. His eyes are his most vulnerable area, so if
LV had only aimed into his eye rather than on his forehead, Harry
would be toast ;).
