It's mighty convenient that Luna's a Ravenclaw, since it means 
she has no classes with Harry. I'll bet she told her fellow 
Ravenclaws during her first year, before Lupin came to 
Hogwarts, and before Harry even knew she existed.  Of course 
they didn't believe her, who would? They probably figure 
someone in the family owns a mooncalf farm and she has to 
spend every full moon harvesting dung.

Luna's name and nickname are suggestive. Remember 
Peeves's jingle--Loony loopy Lupin?
