I asked that question, because in reading the passage it seemed like 
a red flag.  Harry follows Snape.  Snape isn't mentioned again.  
Harry of course, doesn't even notice that Snape isn't there. It  
seems like a JKR hint, rather than just a choppy scene change.

Someone suggested he was in the shadows, which fits his style and 
going for DD would fit his role as well.  It would seem if he was in 
the shadows, JKR would have had Harry catch a glimpse of him. And 
Berit presents some problems with his going for DD.  Unless of course 
there's something about Snape we don't know.....
