in PoA Sirius says he never heard any rumors about Snape being a DE.  
And he doubted DD would have hired him if he had been. Although he 
also says Snape would be clever enooug to get away with it.  So, 
Sirius did not know that Snape had been a DE nor that he was a spy 
for DD.
