Snape is the same age as Lily (in the same year at school), which
makes it unlikely that they had the same father (unless the father was
a bigamist or one child was illegitimate) and impossible that they had
the same mother. On the whole, I think it's unlikely that bigamy or
illegitimacy will come into play in a children's book, however complex
its themes and characters.
