One thing stuck out at me from the recent webchat:
---Don't want to rune the ending, but will we be finding out more
about the significance of the shape of Harry's scar in future books?
JK Rowling replies -> The shape is not the most significant aspect
of that scar, and that's all I'm going to say!
(hee hee, I have to chuckle at the misspelling of "rune" - no pun on
ancient runes I hope.)

Carol agrees with Tcy:
Exactly. Only the person asking the question should have put "rune" in
quotation marks so that the point (pun) was unmistakeable. In any
case, just because the shape of the scar isn't it's *most* significant
feature doesn't mean that the shape isn't important. And just because
JKR ignored or overlooked the pun doesn't mean that runes aren't
connected with the scar. I don't think it's just coincidence or filler
that both Luna and Hermione are interested in ancient runes or that
the rune Hermione messed up on in her exam was the eihwaz rune,
meaning "defense" (or protection). I still think that the "lightning
bolt" is really an eihwaz rune (the result of Lily's "ancient magic")
that appeared on baby Harry's forehead when the AK hit him to protect
him from the curse. Ironic that Voldemort would "mark" Harry with the
sign of his mother's protection (assuming that I'm right).
Carol, who hopes we don't have to wait till Book 7 to find out the
true answer to that question. (No wonder Dumbledore is so shifty in
his responses to Harry. He gets it from his creator!)
