The Dark Mark isn't invisible to all but DEs or Snape couldn't have
shown his to Fudge at the end of GoF. Harry also saw it at that time.
The implication is that not only Crouch!Moody, a DE himself, but the
real Moody could also have seen it with his magical eye had he been
present, and Snape would have realized that. "Moody's" behavior that
night may have aroused Snape's suspicions (I think it did and he
probably reported it to Dumbledore), but "Moody's" ability to see the
Dark Mark would not in itself be suspicious. He could, after all, see
a magazine hidden under a desk or mismatched socks hidden under a robe.
Regarding Karkaroff's hearing and the DE trials of VW1, I think you're
right that Snape told Dumbledore about the Dark Mark very early,
probably at the time he switched loyalties and became a spy for the
good side. At that point, Voldemort was healthy and active and the
mark on Snape's arm would have been clearly visible to Dumbledore,
though I doubt that Snape showed it to anyone else. However, I also
think that when Voldemort vaporized, the mark faded so completely that
it was unrecognizable and could not be used as proof that a person was
or had been a DE. Otherwise Malfoy and company would never have gotten
away with their lie about being Imperio'd.
