Is there anything special about Ron? Does anything stand out about
him, or is nothing supposed to stand out about him as the youngest
of so many brothers?

Harry is, well, Harry, and has a affinity for defensive magic and
quiddich. Hermione is mentally gifted. Even Neville is rather good
at herbology. Dean=drawing. Dudley=eating; punching. etc, etc...

Most all of the characters can be associated with their "thing" even
if its not a talent, but I can't think of what Ron has to bring to
the table. Is Ron good at anything? Is his character not
supposed to stand out or shine in any way?

celletiger, who thinks Ron will be the one to bite the dust some
time in the next 2 books

My "Melanie" reply:

Ron is a pretty loyal and devoted boy. He and Harry have had their spouts but even in the midst of those the two would never hurt eachother (and I always thought Ron would, but time and time again he has proven himself not to do that).

Ron is also well much more cautious than his other siblings, at least the ones that we see on a regular basis. The twins were ready to storm into the St. Mungo's however Ron kept his cool. He listened to Sirius, he didn't overreact or anything. That is saying something.

There is also the whole strategy thing. He is the best chess player or at least a pretty good one. So if you want a real, concrete talent that is it. However, the truth is in life sometimes the best gift a person can offer the world is friendship. I think that is Ron's true gift.
