Caesia replies:
Harry has seen Dumbledore enter the circular office room from another doorway (not via 
the spiral stair).  I've always assumed that this door leads to his private quarters, and that 
this  is why he can be found in his office in his pajamas and dressing gown.  Except of 
course when he ventures out for hot chocolate and just happens to bump into Professor 
McGonagall.  Sorry to be a Hermione with the short (ooh, ooh, I know) post.
