Ok, what if we consider this a type of magical forgery?  The Goblet
does not neccessarily know who put Harry's name in, only that it was
his name.  Even if it might normally, Crouch!Moody tells us himself
that the Gob was Confounded.  (Notice how he keeps telling us what
he's actually doing?)  If someone steals my credit card, maxes it out,
and I can't prove it wasn't me (Harry only has his word, and only DD
believes he didn't put his name in, anyway) I'm going to have to pay
for a lot of stuff I didn't buy.
