My guess is that Dumbledore got a "dying confession" from Quirrell, 
and later told Ron & Hermione about what had happened (after all, 
they played a huge part in helping Harry get to the Stone, and they 
deserve to know the rest of the story!).  Also, I'm sure the two 
were anxious to know what exactly had happened to their friend and 
immediately questioned Dumbledore.  Perhaps other teachers were 
present at the time, and, naturally, word got around.
