I also see Snape to be very much like Gollum. Two creatures twisted 
and controlled by their emotions. Gollum is a slave to the ring, and 
Snape is a slave to his past (old hurts, prejudices). Perhaps Snape, 
like Gollum, will unwittingly help Harry; not because he cares about 
Harry, but because he is after something Harry possesses...what that 
could be I'm not sure...yet.
