BTW, in PoA, does Lupin even know that Snape had worked for DD in the
old days? Afterall, Black didn't know Snape had been a DE.

Actually now that you mention Lupin - he was the main reason I asked
the question about Snape in the first place. Do we know if Lupin knew
about Snape being a DE during the first war? Or didn't he know
anything about Snapes role till the Order got together again at the
beginning of OOTP (with Snape as new member? with Snape as a member
from the first time around?).
You also mention Black. I don't remember the passage in which he
states (or someone else states) that he didn't know about Snape being
a DE. Didn't he know?
At the end of GOF Sirius doesn't seem all THAT surprised that
Dumbledore asks the two of them to put old hatred aside and work
together side by side.
Im still confused.
