Anycase, coming to Lilly being prefect and head girl( most
possibly both) , we have no canon evidence that they were both from
the same year. The students of one year write the exams together in
one hall. If Lilly had been in the same year, then she would have
written the exam in the big hall(to which Harry had been transposed
through Snapes pensieve.). But she was not to be discussed in the
hall I therefore strongly feel she must have been a year or more
younger than the Marauderers and Snape. She was among other girls
under a tree when the marauderers came out of the exam hall.

Sherrie here:
Harry was concentrating on his father, and finding the other Marauders - he
didn't think to look for his mother, she never even crossed his mind til she
(forcefully!) entered the picture. However, Harry is, IIRC, described as
exiting the hall WITH the group of girls in which Lily is included - which would
mean that yes, she WAS in the OWL hall.
Just my two Knuts - as ever, YMMV.
