Ottery St-Catchpole, the Weasleys home village, has been
mentioned by name several times throughout the HP books. It's
wizarding inhabitants were also stated quite clearly in GoF; The
Weasleys (obviously), The Diggorys, The Lovegoods, and the Fawcetts.
Obviously three of these four familys have already played a major
part in Wizard War II - the Weasleys have been involved from the very
begenning, the Diggorys lost a son to the cause, and the Lovegoods
have made their obvious contributions (ie the article and the events
at the ministry of magic in OoTP). The only family we have not heard
from much as of yet are the Fawcetts, who, IMO, are being set up to
become major characters, as they have been mentioned many times.
So far as I can tell, there must be two Fawcett girls (at least) one
in Ravenclaw (who tried to cross Dumbledores age line and came out
with a beard) and one in Hufflepuff (who was blasted out of a rose
bush by Snape). I believe I have heard them mentioned before as well,
but I don't have time to re-read the series right now and make sure.
In GoF, the Weasleys are mentioned first (being involved in all the
books), followed by the Diggorys, whom they meet with on Stoatshead
Hill; then the Lovegoods, then the Fawcetts. This is, coincidentally
(???) also the order in which the familys make major contributions to
the books. The Diggorys show up in book four, the Lovegoods make
their first in-the-flesh appearance in book five - it would logically
follow that the Fawcetts may become major characters in book six. Who
knows, maybe it is with one of these girls that Harry will have a
little romance; we already know that Ms. Fawcett of Hufflepuff isn't
opposed to a little kissing hehehe.
Perhaps, after Harry's "shortest stay yet" in Privet Drive, he will
retire to the Weasley's for the rest of the summer, where these four
wizarding families (the only ones in the area, according to GoF) will
be drawn together to fend off an attack, likley of the Death Eater
nature. Unless, of course, there is some greater chaos already at
work against which they will have to defend themselves. The Diggory's
will certainly be on the boat to fight against Voldemort after the
loss of their son!
I am reluctant to theorize more without some sort of list reaction
to build on, but it seems to me that JKR has laid the map very well
for something big to happen in Ottery-St.Catchpole.
Reactions, anyone?
Bonny
