Bonny:

Okay, Ottery St. Mary is a real place in the Otter Valley, which I
believe is in Devon (correct me if I am wrong). The otter is also,
coincidentally, JKR's favourite animal and Hermione's patronus. The
otter is defined as: Any of various aquatic, carnivorous mammals of
the genus Lutra and allied genera, related to the minks and weasels
and having webbed feet and dense, dark brown fur. (in another
definition, the ferrett was included in this list, as well as the
badger)

So there we have realtion to Weasels (the Weasleys); badgers, ie
Hufflepuffs, ie Cedric; ferrets ie Malfoy the amazing bouncing
ferret; Lutra (sounds a little like Luna); otters ie Hermione... of
course all that is speculation...

Anyone else find these connections interesting?

A catchpole is a sherrif's officer, particulary one that arrests
debtors.

So far as I can tell, there is no "Saint" Catchpole in real life.

So the question is, who is the Sherrif, and who are his officers, and
who is the debtor? Depends which side of the spectrum we are looking
at.

I would love to continue but unfortunatley I have a pressing
appointment - perhaps someone else will continue for me?

I want to hear more ideas!

Bonny
