Severus was a Slytherin. I would think that not only would true
Slytherin parents not want someone that was not a former Slytherin as
HoH, but I would think that DD has chosen former students from the
houses to be the HOH's...look at the others, McGonagall is prime
example of Gryffindor, Flitwick is perfect for Ravenclaw, and with
what little is shown for Hufflepuffs and Professor Sprout, how could
you doubt that she was a Hufflepuff at school? So that said, Severus
is also a perfect example for Slytherin...he has the thirst to prove
himself, and given not only his feelings towards James, but what we
see concerning his father, he probably feels that he has a lot to
prove, especially to his father. I started to add that he is
probably pure-blood and I still think that he probably is, but I
started to think that this may help explain why he hated James so
much....maybe he was abused because he wasn't pure-blood...maybe his
father didn't realize that his mother wasn't pure-blood and took it
out on Severus. And then seeing perfect, happy James would only
serve to rub in the fact that he would never be good enough for his
father.

Oh, but we don't know whether other Slyhterin parents know about
Snape's house. I mean, yes, Malfoy sure knows , but those who did not
go to school with him - not necessarily .

I would not even agree that McGonagall and Flitwick are perfect
examples of their houses. Sure, they don't look like Slytherins to
me, but can you say that McGonagall is very smart and Flitwick is
very brave.

We now know that many people have mixed qualities. I mean, with Harry
Hat had its doubts whether his house would be Slytherin or
Gryffindor, Hermione was almost sorted in Ravenclaw.

To me it is not that bif of a stretch to believe that Severus was in
Gryffindor.

I aks again, why would Sirius be upset that Severus became Malfoy
lapdog? Why did he care?

How Sirius got to sepnd so much time with Severus to be persuasive
enough to lure him into Shrieking Shack?

I don't know - I think it would be an interesting revelation at the
end of the series if Snape will turn out a Gryffindor. I thought
for along time that either Sirius was a Slytherin or severus was a
Gryffindor.

As we all know JKR effectively killed "Sirius was in Slyhterin" part
at the chat, but I still think that Snape may turn out to be a
Gryffindor.

Yes, he has plenty of Slytherin ambition, but also a lot of courage,
so it could be an interesting surprise for Harry.

Consider also this despite the fact that JKR finally started talking
about house unity, Gryffindor is her favourite house and Slytherin
house is still a caricature (unfortunately)

If Snape will turn out to be a good guy at th end, I think it makes
sense for him to be a Gryffindor.
