But it can be done the other way round too. There is no reason 
whatsoever why not to replace Christian rites with good old pagan 
ones, now that there are no Muggles to pry into wizards' business. 
Not that I am saying that there is anything "pagan" about Christmas 
in Hogwarts, mind. I think that religious aspect is simply 
irrelevant. 

(Although come to think of it, the DE movement does bear some 
resemblance to those aristocratic secret societies and exclusive 
clubs that used to practice particularly unsavoury forms of 
sacrilege).
