Why does Kreacher have to obey Harry? (was: Bits and pieces)

I agree, but it makes me wonder about one thing. I don't have the book with me right now, but I believe DD tells Harry that Kreacher didn't have to obey Sirius' orders, and that's how he could leave 12GP. If that's the case, then how come he has to obey Harry's orders?
