The stories are set in the 90's - so I think that is pre-ipod era. 

As for other electrical devices, Hermione tells us in GoF that magic 
renders electricity inoperable - "there's too much magic in the air" 
at Hogwarts for Rita Skeeter to use a listening device (or for 
students to use computers, TVs, or all those other inventions Muggles 
have come up with to substitute for magic).
