On this point we agree. I think the reason Dumbledore gave Harry was
basically correct, but there's more it, which Harry might have
learned if he hadn't interrupted Dumbledore. But, if Snape simply
managed to fool Dumbledore, what reason would JKR have to hold the
reasonable explanation back? Why not give the full explanation
already in HBP, which would make DD look less foolish (and yes, I
still think that's what he currently does *g*). IMO, it seems more
likely to hold back some details of Snape true story, if they come
with a bigger revelation, namely that Dumbledore's trust in him was
actually justified. But you know I am biased in this case.
