Eddie:
Good point.  I was assuming that Dumbledore was unable to remove the
ring.  Why would he still walk around with the cracked ring on his
blackened hand otherwise?  And why, after all, would he even *WEAR*
the ring in the first place?  Darn, every question answered asks two
more.  So much so speculate about, so little time.  :-)
