the wizard using it.

Pippin:
Neither could the horcruxes, or the Prince's book. That didn't make
them safe. The EW has imbibed the the magical power and knowledge of
its previous owners, and very likely the ill will of all the people
it's killed (remember the shadows in Voldemort's wand?) And that most
definitely has a bearing on its current owner. It would be OOC for
Harry to put his faith in such a thing, given his previous experiences.

I don't think Dumbledore tamed the wand in the sense that he could
make it use its extraordinary powers as he wished. I think he didn't
let it use them at all.

Basically, the wand's a Ponzi scheme: it imbibes the magical knowledge
and power of its current owner until it meets somebody stronger, and
then it betrays him. As all of its previous owners have failed in
defense, it appears to be a poor choice as a defensive weapon. Why
should it serve Harry any better?

> I doubt that Harry is going to need much training to become an
auror. They are going to try and get him in uniform as soon as
possible. He defeated the dark lord. That alone will scare the crap
out of many people. And the ones that aren't afraid aren't going to
wait until Harry thinks he is ready to fight.

Pippin:
But Harry doesn't have to fight them. Anyone can fight them. There are
loads of people who know more about dueling than Harry does, and most
of them are on his side and more than willing to protect him. He
doesn't have to play the hero any more.

Pippin:
Agreed. But Bill knows it and so does Flitwick. I'm sure Hermione
learned it as soon as she had the time.
